Contemporary Mexican Painting Exhibition

Exhibition Duration: 20 – 23 June, 2011, 9am – 11pm, Monday - Sunday

Venue: Foyer Exhibition Area, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

State-of-the-Arts Foundation (SOTA Foundation) and the Consulate-General of Mexico in Hong Kong are delighted to co-present our contemporary Mexican painting exhibition – Mexican 3 Moments. This exhibition will feature 6 sets of paintings in the form of the Mexican national flag, painted by 3 world-renowned Mexican artists, Lorena Rodriguez, Daniel Romero and David Garza. Through this painting exhibition, we are promoting interaction between the international artists and our local art community, bringing cultural cultivation, educational enjoyment and art appreciation to Hong Kong.

Mexican 3 Moments exhibition displays works that show the insight of 3 Mexican artists on 3 historical moments of Mexican history, namely years of the Independence, Mexican Revolution and present day Mexico. Rodriguez expresses the social impact First World has on the mythological psychology of her hometown through her surrealist paintings, Romero paints myths and folks on his canvas to convey his nostalgic vision of childhood, while Garza inspires viewers to reflect on their relations with history and nature through his child-like paintings. Together, they create a personal yet collective account of the history of and national love for their home country.

State-of-the-Arts Foundation is a non-profit making arts organization founded in Hong Kong in 2011, aiming to support local & Asian talented artists to stretch their potential in the professional field and to make art their lifelong career. The Foundation believes it is our responsibility to develop the arts industry into a professional platform and sustainable business in order to generate ongoing resources for continual cultural enrichment. We achieve this vision through education, resource support for artists and community involvement.
